HOMEWORK

A student doing homework

Homework is an activity assigned by a school, educational institution or teacher to be completed at home or while not attending class in a defined certain amount of time. Homework is a part of the school grading system, and usually consists of 10% - 20% of a student's grade. The term is generally used to refer to primary or secondary school assignments as opposed to college-level coursework. Many students find homework to be an undue burden, while schools and teachers generally insist that it is necessary to practice new skills and to better learn material. Homework is used to often reinforce the lessons learned in school. Homework can consist of many things, depending on where it is coming from, who it is going to, and what it was suppose to be about. Homework sometimes comes in the form of long-term assignments.
