EARTH
Mostly Harmless
Okay, perhaps not quite that harmless, the Earth is the third planet out from the Star known by Earth's inhabitants as either Sol or The Sun, at a distance of roughly 92 million miles. Sol itself is located within a sleepy backwater of the western spiral arm of the galaxy. Although Earth is a bit out the way, and it's dominant backwards inhabitants have barely managed to leave their own atmosphere, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't visit this planet, it is a unique chance to view a nuclear age planet that hasn't blown itself to oblivion, however there may still be a chance of this in the near future. Its dominant sentient species is the human. (Homo sapiens sapiens).

Earth's atmosphere: Made of mainly made up of Nitrogen (78%). The other major atmospheric gas is Oxygen (21%) with very small amounts of Argon, Carbon Dioxide, Neon, Helium, Krypton and Hydrogen. Earth's weather is relatively calm by solar system standards - wind speeds vary from 0 to 100m/s (compared with Neptune's 560m/s wind speed).
OTHER STUFF
As far as we know, Earth is the only planet in the solar system that supports life, although it is believed there are other candidates, such as Europa. Earth is suitable for living things because of its molten core, which causes a magnetic field around the Earth that protects the surface from harmful radiation and particles coming from the Sun, and because of its abundant water.
Earth is in possession of a rather large satellite, called the Moon.
See? It's Mostly Harmless.
