DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS
Dungeons and Dragons is a pen and paper role playing game where players create and play characters protrayed by miniture figures. It is an RPG world that uses the d20 system that was created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson and originally published by TSR until they were purchased by Wizards of the Coast, which was then bought but Hasbro, which is the current publisher. D&D is by far the best-known and best selling RPG, with an estimated 20 million players, many translations and over $1 billion in book and equipment sales as of 2004. To play D&D players require a several rather expensive hardcover rulebooks, various dice in odd shapes, a truley vivid imagination and delusions of grandeur. Dungeons and Dragons is run by a Dungeon Master, who tells the stories, and does all the "background stuff" to make the game work. He is also the narrator, and doesn't play with a normal character.
Dungeons and Dragons has been revised several times since it's original incarnation. The different versions include:
- Dungeons and Dragons
- Advanced Dungeons and Dragons
- Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Second Edition
- Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Third Edition.
