Follow up to: How To Use A Truck To Game, Or Trick, Google Images

EDIT: To those who have already read this post, it only took half a day for my zebra to get back up again. For those of who don’t know what the heck I’m talking about, you have a couple of posts to read. This just shows that Google Images is far more scatterbrained than people give it credit for.

So, I’m sure many of you have wondered where Wednesday’s post went.

The answer is that WordPress, the blogging software that I use, “ate” it. I’m not sure what phenomena happened to misplace it… perhaps I timestamped it for the wrong year or month, or deleted it by accident or what not, but the post that I would have done for Wednesday is gone.

Don’t worry. There is still hope. I am courageous enough to power through this loss and get it up to you by Monday. Hopefully I can re-achieve regular content even as this week has been… well… lackluster.

Anyways, I’m going on a three-week vacation from July 25th to August 16th. As a result, I’m temporarily taking Wednesday off the update calendar. This will allow me to operate the entire vacation on purely queued posts, if I choose not to release one for this day, which I did.

Anyways, I have some sad news to report. I lost my #2 result for zebra on Google Images back to gopetsonline! (I dare not link them lest I give them traffic, up their rank, and altert them to what I’m doing.) If you look there, it’s no longer around, and instead… the original image that I “stole” and rehosted is back to its deserved spot. I guess it was not to be.

It’s possible that Google Images has some way to identify identical pictures and then matches the two via timestamp, but this is purely speculation.

Of course this doesn’t mean I can’t launch warfare using Google Mindtricks in an upcoming post and attempt to reclaim my zebra prize… Right now with this very different picture of a zebra picture.

Zebra… now with 100% more graphic laser vision!

However, some good news to balance the bad — if you search for the #2 result for phaser on Google Images… it’s stylin’ Captain Kirk from this post! I’m a winner again!

#2 result for “Phaser” on Google Images

If only “phaser” was as nearly as a popular keyword as zebra… Let’s give the new one a month.

No signs of any trucks, though.
