New Content: “Is it a Word?” and “Ask Peter”

Friday, May 8, 2009

Besides the posts and the minor header changes I put in place this weekend, I’ve added some new content to the “Stuff” section. (If you are a returning visitor and the header looks weird, try hitting the refresh button. If that doesn’t work, visit this image and hit the refresh button, then go to the main page and refresh again.)

The first piece of content is: Is it a word?. Wondering whether that piece of slang is recognized by the major dictionaries or not? Don’t want to check each dictionary for yourself? Right now it just checks Wordnet and Merriam-Webster, but there are plans to make it check even more dictionaries and give you more dictionary by dictionary results. The tool also has the coveted page id 666 (which was unintentional), so that should tell you how cool it is.

The second piece of content: Ever wondered if you could Ask me a Question? Well now you can! It’s a win-win situation because you get a question answered and I get an idea for content to include on my site. Perhaps you can ask me questions like Does Point Nine Repeating Equal One?, What is the Sound of One Hand Clapping?, or Could Alexander Hamilton Have Been President? Or you could just ask what my favourite type of pizza is. (ǝsǝǝɥɔ ‘sǝʎ ‘spuǝdǝp ʇı ‘sǝʎ :sɹǝʍsuɐ)

That’s all for now, but I’ll make sure to keep you informed!
