Ask Peter #22: NaNoWriMo Edition

Ever wanted to ask me a question and have it answered on this blog, in front of everyone to see? No? Didn’t think so.

Well, for those who do, I have an Ask Peter series, where people go to this form and ask me a question, and then I respond to them. In this essay, I will do just that.

This is my 22nd edition, and my only edition during my 2011 NaNoWriMo Experiment — it seemed fitting to end the experiment with a bit more inanity and levity. Make it uplifting, you know? (I know the experiment is all I can talk about, but it will be over by the end of the day, so don’t worry.)

But just to kill the mood, I will be racing to answer these questions as tersely as possible because I only have an hour and half until my midnight deadline. The fun! In a world where… – WAIT! I HAVE NO TIME! WHY AM I WRITING THIS INSTEAD OF WRITING QUESTIONS? THIS IS SILLY. QUICK, PETER. FOCUS. ANSWER QUESTIONS. FAST. NOW. GO.

Ask Peter #21: Return of the Question Man

The Ask Peter series is back, where people ask me a question, and I answer it, right here, right in front of you, in this very blog. Perhaps you can ask a more interesting question than these snooze-inducers, a record amount:

Marks in Math

peter please tell me will i get good marks this time in maaths
– manasi

Only if you study.

Marks in Math, Part II

peter please tell me that what is my grade in maths exam?

peter please please tell me whether i’ll be the top of the class this year?
– swathi

Swathi, you might want to see my advice to manasi. Except, considering you two use the same email address, you probably already know my advice.

Ask Peter #20: The Inanity Continues

I haven’t done one of these Ask Peter series things in awhile — it’s been nearly half a year since the last one. The way it works is that people go to one of my webpages, fill out the included form, and send me a question (Yes, those three all do link to the same place, thank you for noticing). Then I answer the question, and it ends up in one of these blog posts.

I used to advertise this series a lot back in the day when I thought not having content was a terrible thing and that any content was better than no content (both of which are not usually true). Now, I kind of sit back and try to write things that make me all intellectual, but I suppose I can dip back in the mailbag from time to time and have fun. Though I will be a bit embarrassed that, with my recent reorganization of categories, Ask Peter ends up having more posts in it than any other category of mine.

Usually the questions are a combination of really stupid, and one or two that are insightful. This one will be no different. Enjoy the 20th installment of Ask Peter:

Names of Sisters

what’s my sisters name
– saffron

I wouldn’t know. If you happen to be Saffron Henderson, a Canadian voice actress and singer, your sister is Camille Henderson.

People in Rooms

how many people are in the room right now

The room? As in The Room?! NOOOOOOOO!

Ask Peter #19: It’s Back and Reloaded

So last time I came back from a blog break I did it officially by returning with an entry in the Ask Peter series. For those just stopping by or those who are new, Ask Peter is one of the things I run “just for kicks”. It involves people asking me questions (my name is Peter) by filling out this magical form and me receiving these questions and answering them. You can see past “Ask Peters” in the Ask Peter category.

Here is Ask Peter #19…

Returning with the Numbers…

Hello Peter !

My Question is :

When will you continiue your “Large Numbers” Series ?

I think your last part was:

“Part 8: Exponentiation Within Limit Functions”

It was/is REALLY intresting. It would be great if you would contiue (soon)”g”

Thank you !

Michael

Ask Peter #18: A Return from Hiatus!

What better way than to come from a long break fueled by too much homework than with an Ask Peter using all the questions that have built up in my inbox?

Here’s Ask Peter #18, which has stupider questions than the last one.

Also, interested in knowing how you can get your very own shiny question onto this lovely website of mine? Easy. Go to this wonderful form, and the rest is all there.

If Only I Had a Dime…

If I had a dime for every time I heard that, how much money would I have?
– AJ

If I had a dime for every time someone asked me an Ask Peter question that had “If I had a dime for every time” in it, I would have thirty cents now.

Seeing as you left no definition for what “that” refers to, I can only assume you mean the word “that”. Therfore, we could calculate it by finding out how often you hear the word “that” per day, and multiplying by ten cents and your age in days.
