Greatplay.net: The immortal words of Greatplay.net

This page is only for people who like long-winded histories of stupid stuff (i.e. this site).

Greatplay.net all started with a handful of dirt. Let's rewind to 1999. I was about seven years old, and pretty smart. I was digging in the dirt with my friend Aron. I have no idea where he went on the internet, but I know he stopped his website a handful of years ago because they don't get the girls. I'm not sure how true that is, but I guess as I go through high school I will find out. Either way, it's summer, it's camp, and were digging in the dirt. We are actually trying to make habitats for the various insects that we found. We poured juice and left out crackers and stuff. Later, we dedicated ourselves to save nature. Insectopia, the club, was born.

Since this is not a history of Insectopia itself, let's go to 2000. Aron had descovered Expage (a freewebs type thing that left the world due to competition from other freewebs type things that were better), and made a webpage. Insectopia, the site was born. Later, in 2001, we migrated to our first domain. Insectopia.org! (It's now a site for a cellphone bug catching game. The domain has changed hands three times since we created it.) Insectopia, the site, was born.

Its still 2001, and Insectopia is coming to a new level. With my new knowlege, I was able to plagarize games from other websites and pretend they were my own. (I don't do that anymore, guys.) My concern was that Insectopia was becoming too much of a stupid games site, and not enough of a stupid nature site. I had thought about splitting off for awhile, but it never happened. Later, I moved from Boston to Ohio. Since Aron was no longer around, I went my own way, and started greatplay.net!

So, yeah. It was 2002, and Greatplay.net was a reality. It's changed a lot since then, but it's remained similar throughout. If you want to see how Greatplay.net looked at key points in history, use the Internet Archive! Here are a few good times:
